Southside Regional Jail
Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Southside Regional Jail is to provide protection for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia from those who have been remanded into custody. We recognize that the conditions of confinement are important in an effective jail and we are committed to providing a humane environment for those confined.
The Southside Regional Jail will utilize cost effective design and construction methods and will be operated by properly trained personnel. Our goal is a secure, safe, efficient, progressive and humane facility for inmates and staff.
The Southside Regional Jail will attempt to provide inmates an opportunity for personal growth through educational and life skills development, mental health and substance abuse counseling programs within available resources.
The Southside Regional Jail is a public service agency and therefore, the Authority wishes to keep the public informed of our policies and cost of operation.
The Southside Regional Jail Authority and the personnel employed to operate this facility will uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and will comply with the Minimum Jail Standards promulgated by the Board of Corrections for the Virginia Department of Corrections.
